Create one website.
How do people even know how to get to waterloo.uservoice.com? How would the public learn that there are suggestions here? Add to this the confusion of citywaterlooblog.com versus city.waterloo.on.ca. Use consistent branding and site names. At least three different sites! where there should be just one.

>>>Anonymous: Thanks for the comments Anonymous. First, your answer to the question "how many people does the city hire to take care of facebook and twitter and a blog and videos and now this and god only knows how many others." The answer is one. I have a communications staff of 2. I have one person who monitors and posts information to those channels, and it's only a small part of her job. There is no duplication or multiple people doing this.
Our end goal with this project is to bring all these tools together into one website, one access point and no multiple URLs. All the comments on this site are being collected and there will be "One Website" in the end where all these tools and feedback channels will be accessible in one area.
Thanks for your comments.

one place - one website - why are there so many different channels? what a waste! how many people does the city hire to take care of facebook and twitter and a blog and videos and now this and god only knows how many others. thinking there are too many cooks in the kitchen and duplication of services again! why are you wasting my money on such nonsence. get back to the basics - give me a value add for the website rather than a public spin on how great or wonderful waterloo is and how important my voice is - when it is locked away in some by section that can't even be found in google.

Roger, I think that you unfairly disparage Anon. He has a point about hosting everything under a unified web site. It's still not done. For example, I just click on the "City of Waterloo" logo on top of this page. Did it get me back to the City of Waterloo website? You try. I also see on this site that Anon or Anonymous answered other people's questions in a positive way for several topics.

City Guy, I don't think Anon is the type to actually show his face. He is one of those anonymous types that just want to complain. You have answered his question twice now and yet he still complains. Do hold your breath for him to show up at any focus group session, that's for sure...lol

Hi Anon,
This link is accessible from our main city website (waterloo.ca). It's on the left hand side scrolling banner. So it has happened. We understand this is not the best integration, but that is the goal around developing our new website, to make it better, more user friendly. That is also why we are collecting your ideas. This one is clear, create one website where everything can be accessed. Thanks again for your idea and comments. Anon, it would be great if you could sign up for our face to face focus groups happening the week of April 23. It would be great to chat and collect more of your thoughts. Send your contact info to communications@waterloo.ca and we will contact you with the details. -

City Guy told us "... this site will be part of our main site next week." That hasn't happened. City staff continues to lose credibility with the public if they keep telling us things that aren't true.

Great comments. And this site will be part of our main site next week. I also agree that all these channels to give feedback seem a bit disjointed. But that is our goal with the new website, to bring everything together in one place, in a dynamic, easy-to-use website. We will get to that place. Thanks for your comments.

I agree with Anonymus. It's very confusing. It remains very confusing. Why not put this forum onto the city's web site. Can someone from the city answer? Hint, hint, hint to Waterloo: Talk to a branding consultant. Not too late, no?

Makes a lotta sense. Why isn't this site a part of city.waterloo.on.ca? I think that the city continues to a poor job of connecting with people.
