We should be able to add suggestions even if run out of votes
I like many of the ideas suggested by others here. But after I voted to support them, I found out that I couldn't suggest ideas of my own. How dumb is that! Voting and suggesting should be independent activities.

Hi Sarah, thanks for your suggestion. I am an admin with this idea forum. I completely understand where you are coming from. The tricky part is ensuring ideas aren't posted for the sake of putting up ideas, so we link votes to them. Why post an idea if you wouldn't vote for it. Below is the rationale behind the idea and voting system. Hope this clears up why we went this route. If it doesn't please feel free to contact me directly.
Why only 10 votes?
The 10 votes limits users, on average, to vote on their top 3 to 4 ideas. What happens when participants run out of votes?
After users run out of their ten votes, they can choose to take back votes and place them on other suggestions, or add a new suggestion as long as their total stays at or below their limit. As suggestions are closed by admins, your users votes are returned. -

Everybody else: Please don't waste your votes on this suggestion. But I sure hope that the web designers see this and act on it. Liberate our votes! Liberate our ideas!
