The City doesn’t currently maintain this data. The Region of Waterloo currently looks after water supply (cities look after water distribution). The Region has a page at http://www.regionofwaterloo.ca/en/aboutTheEnvironment/Waterontap.asp which links to “Blue W” locations for refilling water bottles (wider than just the Region) shown at http://www.bluew.org/. I don’t know if they will provide any Open Data.

The City of Waterloo started publishing traffic closures (roads, intersections, sidewalks, and trails) as a consumable service in late 2012, and this is what our view of Pingstreet uses. In mid-2015, the Region of Waterloo and Cities of Kitchener and Cambridge started to publish similar services for road closures. (Before this there were a variety of types of lists, etc.) All the closures data is now available in the view of the Pingstreet app for each municipality. We also display the closures in our own online City Map.

This data is contained within our bicycle_parking data – the type is “REPAIR STATION”. There are only two points currently for City-owned facilities.

This data has been published as "Events" since late 2012. It is refreshed daily based on the source for the events calendar on the City site.

This events programming data is on the wish list for future release as time and resources permit.

The City boundary is based on the registered property fabric. The City uses Ontario Parcel data, maintained by Teranet on behalf of the Registry Office and MPAC. Under the terms of the agreement for that data, we can’t release this “derivative product”. We have requested permission to release this from Teranet, and if granted, we will release the data in future.

Autumn leaf collection areas are planned for release as time permits, before autumn 2015. That will identify areas, but date ranges aren't stored in the data, as they change frequently every autumn.

City GIS and Parks staff made extensive updates to Trails data in early 2015 to make it more suitable for routing purposes. (Its internal use was principally operations and maintenance, which didn’t require precise connectivity.) The data was most recently republished 28 July 2015. Please see the Transportation Category in our Open Data Catalogue on ArcGIS Online.

This data is published as Schools, as of early 2014. It was most recently updated as of 28 July 2015. This data is created and maintained by City GIS staff based on published listings from local school boards.

This data is published as Bicycle Parking, as of late 2013. It was most-recently updated 30 March 2015. The data is incomplete, but includes most public and many private bike parking locations.

The City doesn’t currently maintain bylaw data in this way, as map data showing the area to which each bylaw applies. It would be useful, but would be very time consuming to produce. It's perhaps an item for future consideration.

City-owned parking lots are available in the “Parking Lots City-Owned” dataset, first published 4 November 2013. We don’t currently maintain on-road parking data in GIS.

The City makes this information (and other tax information) available at http://www.waterloo.ca/en/living/rates.asp. It’s formatted there as a pdf, not a standalone consumable table.

Please see the “Base Data” Category on our Open Data Catalogue site on ArcGIS Online. The City also currently contributes our base mapping to the ESRI Community Base Map programme, and the base map service provided there is consumable at no cost by a variety of applications (ESRI and others.)

Policing is a Regional responsibility. The Waterloo Regional Police Service has a public mapping site that shows occurrences at http://maps.policereporting.ca/SilverlightMap/Viewer.html?Viewer=WRPS linked to from the ‘maps’ link in the header of their main site at http://www.wrps.on.ca/.

For preparation of sketch maps to accompany applications, it may be useful to refer to the City’s public mapping website at http://maps.waterloo.ca. With the tools there, property boundaries can be displayed, and maps can be printed to a specified scale.

This data is currently in a different database (for pavement management) than our roads data. We plan to integrate speed limits and some other data back into our roads data during autumn 2015, at which point it will be included with the roads data published as Open Data.
